Bad deal. Seems almost every year there is a waterfowl hunter accidentally show by a dog that jumps on/steps on a gun.

Or dove.

Bolt open or the gun is hot.

It literally was a black lab that did it. I read about it back when it happened. I’m not sure why Yahoo is just now covering it. I feel bad for the guy, but somebody should’ve not put a loaded gun down like that.

When you get out of the stand or out of the blind, fully UNLOAD your weapon! You can't get shot with an empty chamber! I have heard of acquaintances getting wounded from loading rifles/shotguns sliding a loaded firearm into a truck and it go off. Firearm safety 101. Yes, it's sad, but 100% preventable. You can't slip up, not once.

Yes Sir

A contractor acquaintance of mine killed his best friend in just that type of hunting
accident. They were on opposite sides of the back seat of a pick up shoving their
shotguns into the gun cases, and his finger hit the trigger.

One dead, one changed forever in a split second.

If your done hunting, unload it

If it’s loaded, it better be on safety

Never point a gun in the direction of something your not willing to kill

Keep your finger off the trigger, and out of the trigger guard

Agreed Chad. 100% preventable

This happened to me also with my black lab.
We were pheasant hunting, I had a wounded bird down and trying to pull him out of the grassy field. He was still flapping and fighting which got my black lab excited, I had to lay my gun down and use both hands when my lab stepped on the gun, he must have pushed the safety button off and hit the trigger simultaneously and BOOM!! Right next to my head as I was bent over. So loud and scared the snot out of me, started checking limbs and saw I was not shot and checked Hunter and he too was ok, but what a lesson learned...to close for comfort!
