OneK’s shooting is pretty steady and good ! DJones I can only assuming your shooters view is taking a little time to edit out the Dirt Clod shots

Thank you for more content djones! I always enjoy your videos. We get a good laugh when a hog somersaults!
Congrats on the score MC68! Looks like a nice shooter.
I fixed my gauge up and found some interesting numbers. What was interesting was how the shape of the bullet affected the distance to the lands. The 130 HotCor loaded at 2.175 OAL" gives me about .070" jump. The 150 Pro Hunter loaded to 2.260" gives me a little over .080" jump. It's actually further from the rifling than the HotCor loaded shorter! I can see where you'd definitely want to be careful with some of the flat nosed bullets like the 150 grain HotCor. You don't want that bullet at mag length I bet! I have yet to load any TNT's to see where they sit from the rifling.
Sorry for the number heavy posts but this is the kind of thing I get into when I can't go out and shoot! These numbers are from my rifle and yours may vary. Don't take them for gospel!
God bless.

Yowsir! You been whackin' 'em! What bullet are you using in your Ham'r? Speer 125 TNT Some of the guys around here that hunt cropland up on the Red river are having real good luck with the Speer 130gr HP which is the lowest cost bullet available that's suitable for the HAM'R. I've shot several lately with Hornady 125gr SSTs that I buzzed the polymer tip off down to the end of the jacket nose on my belt sander and loaded to 2.250" and their super accurate and kill REALLY good. Being a .30cal there are LOTS of good choices, but I still like the Speer 130gr HC for all around since I know it will effectively kill the biggest boar I'll ever encounter with a solid lung shot. We just got in 100k of a WC exclusive version of this bullet (130gr .30 cal RN HAM'R HotCore) that has a round nose and the cannelure located for proper 1.170" OAL, but we haven't got them packaged or on the web site yet.

Just after dark I went to check a different feeder with a green light on it. Sure enough there was a sow with several piglets. She wouldn’t get very close to the feeder. My scope is only 5x and non illuminated. Put the crosshairs in the middle of her and shot. Off she went. Didn’t find her until the morning. One more down!

pass thru? blood trail? I hit her in the guts and she ran for a while. Pass thru with no blood trail. The round did good, I didn’t do my part. My other rifles have illuminated reticle scopes and they help a lot hunting under green lights. I couldn’t wait to order one so I used a 5x scope I already had. One is on order now!

dark night, black hog, green light, 5x scope... you did your part just fine. i have an armasight that's my backup, but don't really use it anymore. gently used and tenderly cared for lol. if you want in the thermal game, $2,750 could convince me to sent it your way. 640, 3-24x, 30 hz, 75mm. it's out of warranty but was sent in for warranty work before it expired and is in great shape now. here are some vids from it...

I need some help from some of you gurus. I am having problems working up loads for my 300 Ham'r. Here are the loads I have been dealing with, 27.0, 27.3, 27.6, & 27.9 grs of CFE-BLK, Speer 130 gr FNHC, CCI-450's, WC brass. COAL is at 2.170. I have fired 40 rds thru the gun. 5 rds per load twice. Same results, have not measured the groups but 2 inch would be stretching the truth. I am not a newbie to reloading and don't have trouble with my bolt guns so what is the problem. I am open to suggestions!!1 Thanks Daniel

There are so many things that affect a rifles accuracy it's hard to pick a place to start.
Firstly go over the rifle and make sure it's solid. Make sure the barrel isn't making contact with anything, that the gas tube isn't binding on the gas key, make sure barrel nut is torqued properly and that the barrel is sitting squarely on the receiver face, make sure your scope is mounted solid and screws haven't worked loose, and if you have a muzzle device you might try groups without it to see if they improved.
After that I'd tune the load. Approach this with great caution as you're changing variables and you're changing pressures. If you see pressure signs stop and reevaluate. Settle on a charge weight first. I'd use the load that gave you the best velocity without pressure signs. Then make lots of 5 rounds increasing the OAL .005" per lot. I would stop at 2.195". That should put the base of the bullet at the neck to shoulder junction with the measurements I took with factory brass. If you find no accuracy there you might think about bullet tension. Nobody that I know of makes a.300 Ham'r bushing die yet but Lee is making a factory crimp die. Some rifles like more tension. I'd also do a lot of five with sorted bullets to see if that changes anything. I usually sort with a comparator and have found there's a pretty wide variation in base to Ogive measurements on Speer bullets. If you still can't find a node and have the means to, I'd check a loaded case for runout. If there's excessive runout you'll likely never get it to group.
I hope some of this helps. I'm hopefully going out to the range tomorrow to collect load data on some 130 Gr. HotCor's and some 150 Gr. Sierra Pro Hunters. I'll post results.
God bless.

I'll say this again, please be careful with playing around on OAL longer than our posted recommendations, if the bullet touches the lands the pressure spikes FAST! All the bullets seem to shoot just fine .010"-.020" off the lands so there is no reason to load longer. I used a case gage made with a actual worn chamber reamer to set the published OALs. Having some room between the ogive and lands is extra critical when shooting suppressed due to all the crud buildup in the throat.
