Have a 1967 Winchester Canadian Centennial Long Rifle, bought about 35 years ago, Octagon barrel, Engraving on receiver, and although never have loaded or shot it, it's beautiful.

That will be the next Winchester I buy. It is a beautiful gun. It is actually a Short Rifle which is my favorite model of the 92s and 94s.

I have gone through several Marlins and Winchesters over the years, but it is a Winchester that I have kept. My father-in-law decided he wanted to try deer hunting at the age of 78 and I gave him the Winchester. After watching him enjoy it for the next ten years it became "Leo's rifle." That rifle came back to me after he passed and it now sits in my gun safe waiting to go to my son. I transitioned to bolt action and semi-auto years ago but I still take that Winchester out hunting once a year in tribute to Leo.

Borrowed my uncles 94 to hunt with back when I was a teen, and vowed I would own one of my own someday. I did finally buy one, and that was 40 years ago and still hunt with it now and then.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Aside from the guns built durring the transition from marlin to remlin is there a bad lever rifle out there? I personally love my jm 336 plain Jane 30-30 that was bought in a local pawn shop for my first deer rifle, but dad’s pre 64 model 94 that grandpa won in a raffle at a high school football game in hagerman, NM is a damn good shooting rifle as well. Easy to carry, points good, and brings priceless memories to discussion every time it comes out of the safe....
