We like Ernestos between Aubrey and Pilot Point on 455 1/2 mile from 377 headed towards Sanger. Great Margaritas too. Never had a bad meal there and the chips and Salsa are excellent.

Herbert’s get another vote from me. Ate lunch there every Wednesday in late 80s/early 90s. Wednesday lunch special was two cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, tortilla, chips/sauce, and a tea for $2.99. Still stop in when i’m Up that way. Still as good as ever.

The E Bar on Haskell near Ross is good too. Also Mesero....multiple locations but we are partial to Inwood Village.

But I miss Casa Dominguez, El Taxco, and The Spanish Village....those were the days....

I agree, and it doesn’t have the terrible wait some of the other places have close by.

There’s another place a little further south in barrio, at the day of a dead end street, Mana’s. They actually had 2 locations back in late ‘80s to early ‘90s. I haven’t been since then though.

LOL.. Manas was AYCE in early 90s...You just never knew when it was open....It was a converted single wide in to a restaurant... The Taco Lady Corner was a good spot too!! Corner of Bishop and Hopkins....

Herbert's was THE place to eat breakfast back in my days in San Marcos. It's kind of legendary. La hacienda in Dallas gets my nod for favorite in that town. In New Braunfels, El Nopalito is my Wifes and my favorite.

I go for the Migas with beans and cheese for breakfast at Herberts.

Esparza's in Grapevine when I'm home for a visit. Andale Rapido in Laramie is pretty good and Bernie's has Southern Colorado style Mexican food in Laramie. No tex-mex up here.

Since our favorite tex-mex place in Mckinney had a kitchen fire
and will apparently not reopen we’ve been going to El Corazon.
Good food and service. Plus a very good mariachi band every
Friday from 6:30 to 8:30. We like it a lot.

As for “best”, Abuellos is hard to beat.
The best chili relleno I’ve ever had is at Matts Ranchero

Just went to the Molcajetes in Mansfield last night and it was very good and reasonable as far as prices.
Will be our "go to" for Tex Mex in the future.
