Well... that is what I tell my wife.

Y'all might have just pushed me over the edge. I reload almost all my own ammo. So, I'm looking for some kinda jig to trim 5.56 brass to 300 HAMM'R case length before I anneal and size. I've been looking but haven't found one yet. I can't remember where I got the jig I use to chop 5.56 brass to 300blk length.

Bill,
That looks like your ultralight barrel. Awful small suppressor as well. What’s the weight on that rig?

The barrel is a Ranger profile (my favorite), the suppressor is a Thunderbeast Ultra 5 that I bought before we started making our own lightweight suppressors and the scope is a Thermion 2 XP50 Pro. It's right at 9.5# loaded with 20rds.

I've been doing a LOT of 300 HAM'R accuracy and terminal performance bullet testing over the long holiday out of an early production NULA M20S 300 HAM'R bolt gun. These guns have a long magazine box that allows for a cartridge OAL of up to 2.435" which allows bullets that aren't suitable with the 2.265" MAX OAL of the ARs to be used. Loaded just off the lands at 2.400" the 125gr Nosler AccuBond is a very accurate bullet in the HAM'R. The Lehigh 115gr TME is designed for mag length so is only loaded to 2.260" and also shoots very good.

100yd weight retention

Lehigh 115gr TME 114.3gr
Nosler 125gr AB 96.9gr

I'm curious why the Numa has 1-13 twist. I thought the 15 twist was the preferred choice.

1-15 is the best all around for barrel lengths of 16" or longer, this is a "one off" for me to use for testing bullets with. All production guns for sale will be 1-15 twist. When I referred to "early production" it's just that this gun was built on our new "production fixtures and tooling". My other rifle is 1-15 and it was built on "prototype" tooling and has a EXP serial #.

When testing new bullet designs that are designed to stay together (ME, TME) I use all the various twist rates to make sure they expand well at distance out of the slowest twist and don't come apart at 50yds in the fastest twist. If I'm testing a bullet designed to come apart (CC, TCC, TXC) I only test in the slowest twist available for the caliber. If they fracture in the slowest twist they certainly will when they are spinning faster.

I hope that makes sense??

Actually... the load is probably a lot closer to 1 MOA and I add in the rest. In the 18" barrel I get 2176 fps (giving up 85 fps to factory ammo). The 11.3" barrel spits the 150gr bullet out at 2021 fps (giving up 95 fps vs factory ammo).

But the point of this post is I just finished up the 8th firing of 81 pieces of brass. Some of the brass came from factory loads and some from empty brass. I have lost zero pieces of brass to anything. Necks are good. cases are good. No splits at all. My plan was to throw away this brass and replace it. But now it will get reloaded a few more times until something fails.

For hog hunting I prefer WC factory ammo as it's more perfect than I know how to make.

I just finished working up a major power factor competition load for Rob Leatham.

Hey Bill,

I know this is kind of a rabbit trail to the regular hunting questions, but why did you select the 150 Speer for a major load over say the 135 that you guys get from Speer? It could still make major and seems like the extra velocity would help to work the comp more and reduce recoil. The only downside I can think of is the BC of the 150 is a little better, but the speed of the 135 helps it out a little anyway at ranges you would normally see in a USPSA match.

Thanks!

Lowest pressure to achieve the power factor since these guys will probably shoot a lot of them. For some reason the bonded (plated) bullets build more pressure than a similar cup n core bullet of the same weight too.

I bet those would be murder on whitetails too. Did the base make it out the opposite side?

Which round is recommended for whitetail hunting up to 150 yards. Here in Wisconsin the smaller does are 150 lbs and busk 200-225 ibis. I am shooting the Tactical Hunter WC AR15 platform.

Thanks, Pete

We don't make a 125gr TME, but there are the results for the tipped bullets we do make:

115gr TME (left) penetration 25" in water
115gr TXC (center) pedals 10", base 23" in water
125gr TCC (right) pedals 10", base 44"
