Be interesting to apply these types of similar parameters of law to fishing. No side scan, no down imaging, no hook and look cameras... I think bass fishermen would revolt. That is a very interesting thought.

I think if you snagged a fish using the electronics you described that would be one thing. The fish still have to make the choice to take a lure, the lure doesn't chase them down and hook them. Interesting thought though, are electronics or underwater cameras legal for spear fishing ? Looks like game animals and fish are thought of quite differently by TP&W, no surprise.

So....you can tear up the hogs from a helicopter with your weapon of choice, but do not take a picture of one with a drone. Hmmmmm Probably because you're actually in the helicopter firing the shots and not sitting on a couch somewhere shooting them with a mobile app. As I described earlier, the TPWD is probably trying to restrict the use of devices and equipment that can be used to create live,Virtual Hunting experiences using a technology known as "Telematics". I mean, can't you just see that Hill Country landowner saying he/she should be able to use his/her land "any damn way they please" and sell 350 virtual day hunts every year. Virtual remote hunting was banned years ago in 2005. Checking a hog trap is a bit different. https://www.fieldandstream.com/virtual-long-shot-hunting-texas-whitetails-from-computerhttps://www.cga.ct.gov/2005/rpt/2005-R-0694.htm

I see more of a parallel than wytex. What is being discussed here is not using a drone to shoot deer, it's using one to scout travel routes and other good areas to set up. There is no guarantee you'll ever get a shot at an animal. Additionally, the law for drones prohibits using them for taking photos or video whether it is for hunting or not. All of the fish finder/sonar devices are used to find fish and immediately be able to drop bait in front of them. In principle it does seem pretty inconsistent.

Don't they use unmanned drones to blow people up? Better leave that to just human hunters.
