Where are those 6.5 creedore varmint loads? You know, the 50-60 grain, 4,000 fps varmint loads for ghogs and etc?
This goes back to that one for all thread. One cartridge for everything from long range to deer to varmint hunting in texas would be .243.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

Was looking at the 350 Legend until I realized I’d need a new suppressor to go along with it. I don’t think the 300BLK is really going to fall off, but it is losing popularity.

.300 blackout never even reached "glory".
Served, with a 3,300 95 grain varmint load? That doesn't touch the .243 varmint loads.

Reading comprehension? I made the original comment. Good one. Keep punching that paper with your special round. Until that next special round comes along. Next?
Well did you read your own post? You're making less sense than a democrat

That post proves my point about the shooter vs. hunter mentality. If you really think the majority of gun/ammo sales are by competition shooters instead of hunters, I don’t know what to tell you except that you are badly mistaken.
There are over 1,500,000 hunting licenses sold in Texas every year. Which is why the big gun sales season for all the retail outlets is in the late summer/early fall just prior to the hunting seasons. There are a helluva lot more people that hunt than shoot competitions or just for recreation alone. In other words, a helluva lot more people like me than like you.
Again, my point is that the majority of spending is by competition folks, not that there are more of them. How many hunters are shooting thousands of rounds a year? Almost none. How many competition shooters are? Almost all of them. Common sense... Again, most of the guys I know who shoot do occasionally hunt and probably buy a license, but are very seldom filling a freezer with anything. So they'll count in your license total, but they're not really "hunters" like you. They're also not competition shooters. There is a spectrum, not just 2 types of people. Also, competition folks probably shop a lot more online rather than at retailers. We're not dumb enough to pay retail prices, and most retail products don't suit our needs anyway. Reading comprehension is not a strong suit amongst the hunting crowd.

It’s not a pissing contest. It’s just not letting go unchallenged. It’s one reason there’s so much of it on this particular forum. Why, on this thread alone we’ve learned: If you don’t shoot all animals in the brainstem you suck as a shot; The .270 Win (and several other cartridges that have been going strong for over a century) will disappear soon; Any cartridge over 30 years old is like an old car, sucks, and is not worth having; .30-30s and .243s are for sentimental use only and not practical but 1200 yard rifles are; and Competition shooters buy more guns and gear than hunters. And that’s just a sampling..... The guy who posted that said he kept them because he and his son took a deer with them, not because they were good tools. I didn't say that - the "hunter" did. LOL I don't often say stuff like this, and I'm not trying to be a jackarse, but you sir, are an idiot if you can't see far enough past your own nose to see why other people have a different perspective than you.

As for rifle sales, the competition shooters buy way, way more stuff than the hunters. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. How many hunters shoot thousands of rounds a year, buy barrels, $4k-$5k scopes, etc.? Now how many competition shooters do? Some of you hunting folks need to go spend some time on snipers hide. Your perspectives are insanely narrow-minded.

My guess is that the # of hunters outnumbers the # of comp shooters many, many times over which is also why I'd guess hunters spend more $$$ overall. I really don't give a ratsazzz though one way or another.

Open your eyes and look at the commercial market and advertising - it’s 98% aimed at the hunting community. There’s a reason for that. It’s because hunters drive the market.
Wrong again. It's because hunters are less informed and easier targets for a discounted piece of equipment that is still a terrible value. Why do you think so many hunters still buy junk like a Rem700? If it were up to people who actually knew anything about guns, remington would be completely out of business. They make a bad product at a high price at a time when the industry is creating better products at lower prices than ever before. But hunters buy them because they're willing to accept bad performance and pay extra, because they don't actually shoot enough to know any better.

I really don't give a ratsazzz though one way or another. I agree - they outnumber by person. But most hunters buy 2 or 3 boxes of ammo per year. Most comp shooters shoot 5x that much on an average Saturday.

Nvm - just found the post.
Numbers from 2016, and only include stuff spent by "hunters", which are invalid for a number of reasons - it includes clothing and licenses, it likely doesn't differentiate between money spent hunting versus money spent for range fun (for folks like my buddies I mentioned above who might hunt once a year but shoot recreationally pretty often, but would classify themselves as "hunters"), and they're 3 years old.
I'm not sure if you can't read or can't think, but the problem is somewhere in that area.

I believe sales numbers were presented earlier with the hunters spending more than the shooters but I believe those numbers included camo (insert eye roll here) so are slightly off. I also believe the internet gurus on snipers hide are just as bad here but more specific on topic. I personally can not be convinced that there is that high of a percentage of the population shooting competition or long range to suggest they carry the bulk of the market. Of course I have no data to support my opinion so it is just that, an opinion.
As far me generally agreeing with NP here I usually find his stance as single minded as the other side.
If you add recreational shooters to comp shooters I think the tide might turn on $ spent.
I’m meandering around aimlessly, what was the original topic?
