After heat treat I clean it up real good with a scotch brite belt. I don't waste my time quenching in oil. I use brine so I don't have to spend a lot of time cleaning up a blade. Don't even get into warping or cracking a blade, 300 knives a year speak for themselves.
Hey Bob, Do you temper after heat treat? I've read that any tempering at all will remove any hardness acquired by brine quenching.
