No.

I have a good battery charger if you want to try it...

Sandblasting is the best and fastest way IMO..... especially if you hit
It with a 4 1/2” angle grinder with a wire brush first.

I looked at it years ago. It’s slow and messy. It works well, but the end result is no better than what we are producing. Glass blasting is the best I’ve come up with.

Can you let it sit for a few days before cleaning?

Yep.... heat some water in it and scrape it with a spatula..... then re-season.

You can let it sit as long as you want, it just gets harder to clean. I always clean my stuff immediately after cooking while the pan is still hot. Use hot water, put just a little in and it’ll sizzle. One more shot of hot water and swipe it with your tuffy pad. It’ll come clean right now. Back on the stove to dry while you eat.

I pushed that little Griswald seasoned with lard into the photo for comparison. It has barely warm coconut oil in it. I’m using a basting brush to paint a thin coat on and then try to wipe most of it off. Cooks at 500° for about an hour or until it quits smoking.

Looks like lard will be darker that coconut oil but that’s ok with me.

I like the look of lard/bacon grease....that dark finish is what I expect to see in a well seasoned piece...

We are sending this grill back to its owner today. We decided to put one more coat of coconut oil on the smooth side just for appearances. When this beautiful piece gets back to you put it in a 500° oven for an hour. Then start using it.

If anyone wants one, at the Bowie Trade Days there’s a guy there that usually has a handful of good Griswolds in all sizes and Dutch ovens

He gets high retail but still hard to find a man w 10 good pieces for sale

I got my Puritan at a thrift shop at a steal when I wasn’t even sure what it was ($20)

Cleaning question. Every now and then when cleaning/wiping with paper towels tiny bits of the towel rub off in the pan.
How do you get them out without doing a cold water rinse?

I guess you could flick them off with your fingertip. I don’t use paper towels on CI very much. I clean with aTuffy pad and hot running water while still hot then rinse with hot water and shake dry and place on burner to dry.

Sounds like I will have to do the hot water deal, seems like I have heard many say cold water though??
