Correct mildly venomous. But also rear fanged (fixed fangs).

Curiously, the common Garter Snake is also mildly venomous (neurotoxic no less). But not a threat to humans, either one.

Yeah, the drama-queens of the reptile world. If you bother them enough...they roll over and 'play dead'. And if you turn them back over they will just go belly up again 'insisting' they are dead. Too funny.

I had a western hognose that would eat pinky mice so one day after having the smell of the food on my fingers I let him bite me and chew for awhile. All that happened was that the finger got slightly red at the tip and itched a little. Their slight venomous bite does seem to have some effect on toads as they rarely struggle after they are grabbed by the hognose. Could just be paralyzed with fear though.
