I have 2 uncles that my grandparents adopted from outside Mexico City who where orphans, they look like what most cal "Latino, or mexican", but are actually Cholula indians.

Here is a good read.

The Pratt part of my family has started a group on FB in which numerous Pratt’s have gotten DNA results and traced the family tree back quite a ways. I’ve said it here a few times but Pratt used to be LaPratt. I knew my history to be Cajun. Apparently it’s waaaaaay more French than I could have ever thought. French-Canadian to be exact, then to Michigan. Then all the way down the east coast to Texas. Crazy how one dude can spawn a whole litter of us. roflmao

Apparently her alleged dad was 6'2 Hispanic guy. I would joke with her mom about it because my wife is five foot nothing. She always thought she was Hispanic and had Native American traits. I thought it was a small chance she could be Asian. Never in a million years would I think she's actually half asian, and half Hispanic. Tell me what you think. [Linked Image]

Thank you sir.

She definitely has the squatty asian body. That I always said. When we first started dating people would refer to her as the Asian girl. And I always disagree with them because I never saw it. Hell I guess they were right.

If she was wrapped in a woven blanket she looked Navajo, and is she wore a Mongolian hat she look like a little Genghis Khan, so I wondered. Well yesterday, we got her results.....she's 49% Chinese from Taiwan. She's a little confused, and off-kilter today, which is understandable, but i think its pretty cool and interesting. My results will probably be pretty boring "typical hispanic" results for the area. I might be 20% Russian, was thought to be German at one point. Stories passed down for years may not be accurate. We'll see when i get my results back.

Curious, any idea where the 49% chinese came from in her family?

You're cute in that little outfit even though it kinda looks like a dress.

I see that you are big noticer. Notice that the picture was dated 1913. That's my uncle Wessel.

Your uncle Wessel is your dad?
So that makes your dad your stephbrother?
Im so confused now.

I have the same type of heritage and the family ancestors have been traced back to their hometowns in Germany. Part were of Austin's colonies, others came through Galveston while Texas was still a part of Mexico, others through Ellis Island.

She looks asian to me

So where do they get all this DNA to tell you who you are? How can they tell you that your ancestors came from a specific area back whenever? I don't get it.

The potential to have that changed at this point in my life only serves to question those I have trusted or distrusted my whole life.

Well eventually your kids or grandkids will do it, so why not it be you? My son for Christmas got me and my wife a kit, we have not sent it in yet. My Dad has always said he is 100% full blooded Portuguese. That would mean I should be 50%? It will be interesting to see what comes back.

Yeah, a lot is word of mouth or birth certificates, and that can't be trusted 100%. Not everyone is going to tell the truth, if they're in the wrong.
