Geez I've just never met anyone that owns a Contender or Encore that doesn't know they can be configured as a rifle or a pistol. He knew that. He also knew it was illegal to make a 15" barrel rifle without an SBR stamp. He simply a asked an ATF agent at a gun show if the brake made him legal, since it put him over 16".

Sure, a stock will make for more precise shooting.
That still does not negate from the fact that there are a lot of people that like to hunt with a pistol.

I want to see someone hoist up this Remington, shoot it as a pistol, with a long eye relief pistol scope, and keep three rounds inside one inch. I'll buy the beer and steak for them.

Could be that a guy who buys one of these doesn’t care about 1” accuracy. He may have another use; like jerking it off his loaded farm truck seat and blasting a pig that is 25 yards away? He could care less how it shoots at 100 yards. Or maybe he buys it because he can. In the end, buy it or not, who cares.

He may have another use; like jerking it off his loaded farm truck seat... You may want to rephrase this portion...we have some degenerates on here.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Didn't they do a bolt action pistol back in the '70s? But it didn't look all blackout tactical.

Daniel on this board bought a 12.5" bolt action pistol not too long ago. Had the PDW pistol brace on it that collapses pretty much all the way down to the action. Would be handy little bolt action rifle "pistol". This with no brace is worthless to me though.

This was with a 15” encore 7-08, prone with a front bag, at 100 yards. 2-6x bushnell trophy scope.

Not sure if I can, I'll give it 50/50. That's better than 90/10

I want to see someone hoist up this Remington, shoot it as a pistol, with a long eye relief pistol scope, and keep three rounds inside one inch. I'll buy the beer and steak for them. I’ll assume that by “hoist it up and shoot it as a pistol” you are referring to standing and shooting without a rest. If you can pull that off with a rifle at 100 yards then I’ll attempt it with my 460XVR. I can keep 3 shots in a 1.5 inch group at 100 yards with my revolver and a Burris FF3, of course I’m using a rest and I’m seated. This Remington, like my S&W, was not designed to be shot unsupported. I’ll bring my revolver to the match with 60 rounds of the 200 grain plinking ammo if you will create a stage for it. 2 shots per person, coyote and deer at 100 yards, or whatever you want.

I've been deer hunting with a T/C Encore pistol for about 20 years now. No brace or bipod. Have taken a number of deer with it. Not sure how this thread morphed into a short-barreled rifle discussion. Completely different topics.

Reminds me of the second version of the XP-100 made from a M7 action and simular stock to the new one. I like the stock on the old XP-100 ir Wichita and the new Nosler for a boltaction handgun as the balance point is better. Doesn't really matter if shooting supported but does make a big difference when shooting off hand. Handguns I hunt mostly with either one of the TC contenders I have or a Ruger 357 Max or the PC S&W 629 hunter package. From a bench groups hae run with those for me fro 5/8 inch at 100 to 2 inches. From off hand 6 inches is more like it when using an adapted sling for support for me. Off hand I actually am best wit the Contender with a sling but true off handgoes to the 629.
No I have never been able to shoot sub MOA off hand with any of them but 6 inch groups consistently is good enough to kill a deer reliably and cleanly at your max range and the only way to learn that distance is to shoot a lot and learn your limits for range and positions from doing it. Longest shot I have taken on a deer with a handgun was 220 yards with the TC and a 7-30 Waters barrel using handloads with 120gr Nosler Ballistic tips @ 2500fps from a rock as a rest that was perfect rest for the handgun, Seated with gun rested on knees 100 yards is usually no problem. Offhand my furtherest handgun kill was with the TC at 70 yards, right in the pocket double lunged and she ran about 20 yards.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch
