Buzz, it's not how heavy it is, it's how long the bullet is. Bullet stability is not based on the weight, but the overall length of the bullet. Calculate the stability with the data below, and that will tell you if it will work or not.

Buzz,

Are looking at the Field Craft in 22-250?

Lightweight
1 in 7 twist
3" Mag Box
18" threaded barrel for the suppressor you have on order

Dang it. I'm starting to talk myself in to one.

My 1:8 Tikka shoots 77 match kings very well. I’ve got some 80grain Eld-M but the first 77 loadi tired shot so well I never even opened them.

77gr TMK and MK are GREAT bullets

Scott, I love the Fieldcraft, only worry is the pencil barrel heating up too fast. I also hear 2019 they are chambering it in .224 Valkyrie

So, you'd rather wait on a chambering tha will do LESS THAN the .22-250, only based on marketing hype?

Yeah, I'd pass on the V-8, waiting on the 6 cylinder to come out next year.

And it’s not the ecoboost model.

Right. The .224V does more than a .223 Rem OUT OF THE AR PLATFORM.

The 224V will not do more than the .22-250 out of a bolt action. I don't know how many times, or ways this needs to be explained.

Can't go wrong with a 250. I like the 55 grain Sierra game kings for hogs and deer.

What did you buy?

Please tell me (using Jason's logic) you went with the V10 and bought a 220 swift. The OG fast.22 wink

I would try the 64 Nosler BSB or the 65 Grain Sierra Gameking in that 1/9 twist .22-250.

I have an Uncle who has hunted exclusively with the .220 Swift for the past 40 years, typically shooting handloaded 55 Grain Sierras with IMR-4064. Wont shoot anything else at deer or hogs. He says if you put it in the right place it works. I have tried to get him to try heavier bullets but when you have killed enough deer to fill a supertanker you get set in your ways I guess lol.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr
