I liked him and once told him he was the most obnoxious SOB I'd ever met. He said "Hell Dave, greatness doesn't come to just everybody.

I met Randall at at THF get together like in 2007? I can still remember TxCornhusker and me were putting down some cervezas. We see Randall go into his and Lora's tent. A few minutes later CrazyHorse steps out wearing a Kilt!

We also went on the Thompson Temple smelly goat hunt together. I hunted with him and Lora and a few other THF members down in the Trans-Pecos several times. He had a heck of a passion for hunting and the outdoors. He loved to run his and Lora's javi outfitting business in the Tran-Pecos. Never a dull moment and I can truly say I never had ANYTHING negative to say about CH.

I never clashed with him like some members and moderators. He could be bull stern and I think he took pride in that stance of not backing down. I think that is why we got along. We were both smart azzes and loved to tweak other members buttons. Good times though. God Speed my friend and prayers for Lora and the family as they go through this very difficult time.

Met him, Lora and that Siamese cat on a leash once to pick up a shotgun I bought from him. He was wearing a leather strap around his neck with either bear claws or maybe Javalena tusks? I had a blast talking to him. Very interesting man and very cordial. I could tell he’d led a storybook life.

45 minutes later they had to leave for a lunch date. We traded stories about Pronghorn hunting. If I remember correctly his story was how he and Lora processed a Pronghorn one of them had shot on their honeymoon night while my story was how a friend and I processed two we shot on a Federal draw hunt in a motel bathtub in Dalhart.

It was a great time meeting them and my sincere condolences go out to Lora.

RIP Crazyhorse.

One of the few people either on here or TFF that I have actually met. Met him at his javelina lease SE of Ft. Stockton. He was a talker. I liked him. Sad way to go because I think he probably had a lot of life left in him.

My prayers for him and Lora. May he rest in peace.

Randall and Lora organized the very 1st "unofficial" THF get together back in 2005 at the LBJ Grasslands near Alvord, TX. There wasn't a big turnout for that one (probably 10 of us or so and I was late) but the THF membership was very small at the time. They also helped organize the 2006 "semi-official" THF get together which was a much better turnout and a blast was had by all. Randall was a very colorful character and he and I butted heads on the THF a few times but we got along fine in person. He was a good man and one of a kind to be sure. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing and I pray Lora can find peace and comfort in a very difficult time. Rest in peace "CHC" Randall...

HuntingTexas, those were indeed javelina teeth/tusks on his necklace and that Siamese cat on a leash was "Murdock" (from a Star Trek character) if memory serves me correctly.

Wow...one of the guys I got along with from back in the days when JP started TFF & THF. Hunted with him the 1st time at the small lease north of Muenster when he lived in Azle, then a couple years later with my usual pard, the "deaf Yankee Oklahoma transplant guy" from Carrollton, when he & Camp Cook had all drawn together on a Javy Lottery Hunt at Choke Canyon and laughed at the "tourists's gaping at his waist length necklace of hog tusks,... then again later, I stayed at the house in Olney and hunted the Archer County lease with him. Only guy I ever saw eat raw venison trimmings, to see if the meat was ready, that had been hung up to age. He liked to not made it one time before after stepping backwards off the flat bed and falling on a concrete curb while unloading deer stands a the grocery store's storage area in Olney last time I talked to him. He loved to hunt with his downloaded 375H&H too.

Another one of the Original THF'ers that'll never be replicated. RIP indeed. I'll miss the grumpy old fart for sure...not many of us left who were that determined to "go home" to where we started out from like he did, building BP rifles in Olney as a teenager before he got the gig at the Ft Worth Zoo as a large animal handler, that he officailly retired from.

Home is the Hunter, Home from the Hill ...this one hits really close to home for me as I've lost 3 pards in the last 9 months, with 2 more pushing 80 and treading time ...

I think I went to that one. There was a pond on the property right? I remember Randal in the Kilt.

Trying to remember if there was a pond and there may have been I just don't remember. I do remember the first evening going to eat at some lousy Mexican food place wes 70 and a few other thought highly of in Weatherford. It was a cool weekend met a bunch of nice folks.
