As good a pistol as they build, the slide release being replaced by an extended release is a big improvement! Being a "special needs shooter" (left handed) I adapt to many firearms. I release the slide with my trigger finger, and the standard slide release on a Glock, I just can't really get ahold of. $15 and 5 minutes to swap out the slide release, and I can run the pistol like I run all of them. It might cost Glock $5 more, per pistol to install one like this at the factory.

Ok, rant over!

The main reason I can think that they don't or won't offer that, is because the pistol won't be flat on the side. The extended release causes that part to rub on any holster. Mine is wore down right there. It does help, but I would prefer that part not be on my carry pistol because it wouldn't sit flush in the holster.

I'm not wrong-handed laugh but I have preferred the extended version since the model 34 first hit the shelves.

All of mine (total of 10) wear one except for the 42, 43 and 45... just haven't taken the time to see if any are available for those yet.

Just train yourself to pull the slide back off the release and let go....it'll chamber a round and you can adapt to the glock smile

Extended slide release is a must for me. Im a challenged shooter, not as challenged as a lefty, but got short fingers. With extended slide release they're perfect for me.

Doesn't the slide release if you feed the next mag in with authority? My old Glock did and my Security 9 does. I always rack the slide or am ready to. I hardly ever use it as a slide release.

I just left a Christmas party so I'm way too drunk to read the comments in this thread, so I recommend doing a proper barrel break-in from a lead sled. Especially if you're using the factory Glock stock. crazy

While Glock was a big innovation way back when, the design has been far surpassed by other companies. It's like complaining an 1858 Remington not being centerfire. Get a modern pistol and get on with your life.

Too much hand moving brah. Your left hand has to leave the mag, and reach on top of the slide and pull back, then stack on top of your right hand. Using the slide release removes a big step with your left hand.

We should race the clock, both ways.

LMAO your post should have said Glock has been copied by other companies. Glock is still the gold standard when it comes to poly frame pistols. Please elaborate on which company that copied them has far surpassed them. Thanks

Well, while far surpassing them might be a stretch, walther, and hk both are much more ambi friendly, just as reliable, and the triggers suck considerably less. CZ p09 holds more ammo, has a more better grip angle and allows you carry cocked and locked or da/sa. Even SIG (i aint a big fan of sigs) beat glock out of the army contract.

I think a better analogy would be after colt made the SAA then rested on it rear and got passed by Smith and Wesson. Colts and glocks are still fine, but to say that they cannot/have not been improved upon seems a little naive, well either that or fanboyistic

Also glock originally copied and improved upon that weird hK, which was the first poly pistol

That is all personal preference and doesn't make one mo betta than the other. I personally like Glock grip angle. Their factory trigger isn't that bad to me. Also i get a poly gun to carry to point and shoot. If i wanted to carry cocked and locked I'd just use my 1911 or a CZ 75 variant.
