The scope powered up using the input USB cable and I offloaded the pictures/videos then shut down. Later on, put in batteries and it would not boot up- even trying different sets of batteries. When I plugged in the USB cable again (connected to the laptop or a charger) it would start up. So the last time I offloaded videos I left the batteries in and when I removed the cable and turned the unit off and then back on it worked fine.

Mine worked fine for the first few hours of using it and then gradually got worse and worse. This was without plugging it in. Got to the point where I could get it on after turning it off/on for 15 minutes. It'd stay on but as soon as it was turned off... it wouldn't turn back on again. Sent it into FLIR and they issued a new one. No problems with the new unit after 5 hours of use.

Good deal. I really like my 536 and kind of wished I'd gotten the 736. Or a Trijicon IR Hunter Mark III grin

I initially planned on getting a 736 then decided a 536 would be more appropriate... but ended up getting a 736 with a special price that was below the 536 list price. Deal was hard to pass up and I was really curious about the 736. The 736 is awesome in that from my typical hunting locations - the high magnification makes for some incredible images. The 6x native magnification from the 736 looks way better than when I digitally zoom 2x on my Zeus 640 3x (effectively 6x digital magnification). I have two blinds with feeders setup at 200 yards and one at 160ish yards. Works perfect for those.

I was inspired by many videos of people walking and stalking with tripods. Tried that last weekend with great success and it was a lot of fun. In hindsight, a 536 would better for dual purpose blind hunting and walk/stalk. Getting close action with the 736 makes it difficult for follow up shots because of the low FOV. Thought I'd be mostly hunting from the blind... but damn what a rush the walk/stalk is.

What I'm trying to say is... unless you plan on ONLY shooting from long distances... you'll be better off with the 536. Kind of wish I got the 536 smile
