It sounds as if PETA has infiltrated the THF. Pigs need to be eradicated. Getting shot hurts and some of you need to warm up to that fact.

Right... but at what point do you stop and say.... hmm hogs are a nuisance because of the destruction they create, the shot was missed because the shooter was more concerned with making the distance as far as he could than anything, now the hog is potentially wounded to suffer for no reason other than ego, or the hog is happily rooting away unscathed/breeding to make more that will also destroy property because the shooters ego? I don't really care about the hog, but if it wasn't trying to pull of the furthest shot the shooter could the hog would be dead and goal accomplished... but killing the hog probably wasn't the real goal.

the shot was missed because the shooter was more concerned with making the distance as far as he could than anything how did he add distance? I think the hog was spotted at said distance and the shot was attempted. The boys in the military do the same thing to the enemy. What did you expect him to do, close the distance like a cheetah before taking a knee and making the shot? Chad is a great guy but a cheetah he is not.

Is he a soldier shooting enemies or a cheta chasing dinner? You tell me I don't know, I don't think either are similar to the discussion.

Ever set up somewhere elevated? Coming down can make you lose sight of what you're looking at. Chad could have walked toward them, and not had eyes on them until 100 yards away, or less. Given the situation I will do exactly the same thing. I suffer for no reason also, at the damage hogs cause to my land. Not a lease, a payment is made every month. I don't give a damn where a bullet hits a hog as long as it dies at some point in the next day or so. F em!

I have read all the posts thus far and wondering the following:
1. Age of those who have posted.
2. Do you own land and do you lease it for hunting?
3, If you own land and lease it, do you concur with the posts here?

I don't really care about the hog, but if it wasn't trying to pull of the furthest shot the shooter could the hog would be dead and goal accomplished... but killing the hog probably wasn't the real goal. I went and re-read the original post. In that post he stated that the main field that he was set up on had a range of 400-850 yards. The pigs stepped out on the field where the range was 1600 yards. I don't recall in his original post where he ranged the pig at 800 yards and then backed off an additional 800 yards to make a more challenging shot. I truly am surprised at the number of people chastising Chad for taking this shot at a pig of all things!?!

I think the most ethical thing to do is shoot them in the stomach so they run off and die and you dont have to worry about hauling it off.

Then I will remove that, what did you expect him to do? How did he add distance? On page 2 on this link below, I lay out exactly my set up. We were hunting the field from about 390 to 850 yards. There was a separate field much further away that I also saw and ranged the Scout at 1597 yards. I will plan to go back to this exact set up and try for pigs again in all the fields accessible, especially the far Scout field now. After this, I'm done responding to the tree huggers, trollers, PETA wanna-be's, and butt wipes on this post. https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/7377189/2

I don’t care what animal it is.....none deserve to suffer being on the end of a bad shot.
You didn’t have the skills to make a 1600yd shot in the conditions in which your shot was taken. Lighten up Francis! It's a pig. Go hug a bunny, you will feel better.

Chad, while my place is small, it has many hogs. You are welcome to come gut shoot them all. Because I am not a POS, I would rather a clean kill but any kill of a hog on my place will earn you acceptance. What I see as the issue in this thread is that non-landowners are throwing stones but forgetting they are still inside their glass house.
