I know that we got record rainfall, but my sightings are probably 1/4 of what they were last year. I saw deer on almost every sit last year. This is going on 5 days now without seeing a deer on our place. As I sit here I think of all the other things I could be accomplishing back at the house. Where are those durn deer?

As soon as it warms up I'm going to stain my front porch. At least when I'm finished I'll have something to show for my efforts. realmad

The other evening I did watch a bobcat climb an 8ft hifence then jump down on the other side. Other than that, this season has been rather unspectacular. Thoughts or comments? Time to head to the 'Greenwood saloon'?

What area are you hunting? How much local pressure is there? Are you hearing many shots?

No shots. Probably 3000 acres total around me low fenced that gets hardly any pressure. I mean, maybe 3 guns. I know all the neighbors and talk to them regularly. They really don't even hunt. Sometimes one of the grandkids might shoot one but that's it. No leases around. Deer density is around 30 acres per deer. Tracks everywhere you look. Weird.

Our population has increased from years past. That makes it even more strange.

I was seeing a lot of deer, then it seems they went at least partially nocturnal. I do still see, on a regular basis, 3 bucks endlessly roaming and looking for love.

I am seeing a few deer and some days quite a few. With cooler temps this morning I saw 3 bucks, 5 does and 1 fawn compared to yesterday morning when I saw 2 does. Still some acorns, lots of winter weeds/grass, oats and some browse so they do not have to come to corn or protein. Any time a doe shows up at corn and buck shows up she is chased off. I can road feed and have corn left over night and maybe 2 nights. All the deer are still in great shape and even the bucks are not looking to bad for being this far along in the rut.

Man I've been wondering the same dang thing. Our property isn't heavily pressured, but it's low fence and all surrounding neighbors hunt. I was covered up during bow season, just waiting for Mr. Bigs. Things pretty much stopped once rifle season hit for us.

Thinking about hitting a local lake instead of hunting, limits of slabs are coming off the pier

Finding a similar situation. Had about 3-5 shooter bucks on my property during September on camera. Passed on 2 nice bucks opening day of Archery. Later convinced my wife to hold off on 2 smaller 8's in mid archery season. Last week of Archery took this 10 as I was seeing quite a number of new hunters setting up around our 160 acres and felt waiting could loose him to competition. Since I took mine shooters in day time none existent. We have hunted every day during gun and I am in hot water with my wife for convincing her not to take earlier opportunity. I am seeing nice bucks at night on camera but they are staying out of sight during daylight. Leaving tomorrow with wife's tag unfilled. Back up mid December for another try!!!!!!!!!!

Darn nice buck, Flashprism....Well I did some detective work today. Just pulled the camera at feeder on the big oat field at noon. My target buck was there at 9:01-9:15 this morning. I was in stand #7 about 500 yards away through deep woods. He was also here yesterday right at dark. Many more deer were on the field too. They're going nocturnal on me.

I poured out some Tinks and also made a drag line with it. The wind finally settled down. Ready for 'Showtine'!

They alway seem to go underground in East Texas but it’s happened much earlier this year than in seasons past.

The coyote population seems to have exploded in the area where we hunt in Houston County. I’m starting to wonder if we just don’t have as many deer due to high fawn mortality from coyotes.

There has been almost no movement at all on our place. Nothing like last year. Very weird. I have a 5 day hunt planned in mid December. Hopefully I see something then.

Yeah last place I hunted was a small place in South Texas had similar problem starting in December usually. Guys would straggle in starting Friday morning and "drive" the ranch checking everybody's feeders and stands, trail cams and hog traps. We had some well educated deer. They had us patterned from start to finish.

Skunked again. I'll try in the morning. Maybe the waning moon and cooler temps will bring them out this week.

As I walked to the big field this afternoon, rescue grass and clover is everywhere. This may be the year of the deer and not the hunter. I haven't killed a deer here in 4 years anyway. It would be nice though.

I sat in a blind the last few days that only had 1-3 little bucks show up for corn, and they were only there for a minute or two. I had 30-40 deer within the two 120 acre fields that I can watch from the blind. The deer had their heads down, eating the entire time.
Cameras show that deer do hit the feeder at night, that explains why all of the corn is gone, no pigs.

Happily, they were all over me this afternoon. 6 point and a nice 8, but I let them walk. The spike did not get to walk. Must have seen 25 doe. All in all, a nice day in the woods.

Glad I'm not the only one having this problem. I see nothing during the day, even on my cameras. Not sure what's up.

It’s very green and the peak means low sightings until the post phase starts.
