Friend has land on the river just outside of Seguin but I have never seen deer like that. They need to hunt harder.

Well, to be fair, this is 6500 acres, MLD and managed.. there used to be a small breeding operation bringing in some better genetics.. and they feed protein.

but us low fence and hard to hunt

Got it and that helps for sure. They have around 300 acres and on MLD to get doe tags but that's about it. Pecan orchard and wheat.

I have a friend that lives in the area and they shoot some very nice deer..

Sure.. my deer, about 125 yards, quartering away in the brush, quick whistle and it stopped, my best shot was to put one center, low neck.
178 ELDX, straight down, exited far side. Never twitched.

My buddy hit his centered through the shoulders about 75 yards with a 95g TTSX, same story.

I shot a doe at 375 with my 6.5 Creedmoor through the heart, exited far shoulder, shot straight up, ran 30 yards, done.
143 ELDX

Shot another doe at about 150 with my 6mm Creedmoor AR, 87g vmax, low center neck quartering towards me, exited the far shoulder, DRT, never twitched. The 308 and 6mm were first time kills, confidence inspiring for sure.
