The folks in Austin made the same mistake the Aggies made when they hired Sumlin. That is, hire a severely over rated coach from a team in a very weak conference who did well because the school is located in a recruit rich area.

Yep sounds like they have another "Strong" dud, Another rah rah back clapper and not a tough coach. Look at Saban on the sideline, tearing those guys up when they make a mistake. Or it could be the Alumni running the show.

Well, Urban May be available. I think he may ditch OSU the way they handled his situation. That’d actually be a scary thought with him in Austin.

Sam threw two bad interceptions. He is still terrible with his decision making. I wonder if we'll see shane next week.

You know Texas could have had Johnny Manziel and Baker Mayfield. Both wanted to be Longhorns

My wild prediction.
As was the case with Darrell Royal, Joe Moorehead will have a great season at Mississippi State before ending up in Austin.

I am also amazed Texas can’t get a top quality qb to pan out. Have had 2.5 greats in last 30 years. McCoy, Young and Applewhite. So much talent in Texas.
With that said, I’m not writing off ehlinger yet. Still early in the season.

With that said, I’m not writing off ehlinger yet. Still early in the season. After the game a reporter ask him about his late-game turnovers, and how Tom Herman wanted him to work on that. The reporter ask him what he needs to do to work on that. The kids said those who play the game know that you have to take chances on third and fourth down. He said he could have run for two yard, or threw the ball the way but that's not going to win games. I'm like no ehlinger that's exactly what you do. Throw the damn ball away call another play on 4th Down, and if no one is open and you don't see anything. Throw the ball up for grabs and hopefully one of your receivers can come down with it because it's Fourth Down. You don't do that on 3rd down!. The receiver he threw to was Triple covered on top of that he airmailed the 6-3 wide receiver by 3 ft. If the kid doesn't understand basic football principles how can he be your quarterback.

I remember McCoy doing that once and without replay, their season was essentially over. VY seemed to be the best but I think it was all instinct vs him thinking it through.

Check this out. All these are games in which Sam threw an interception, or fumble at the end of the fourth quarter, or overtime. I might be missing one. Just off the top of my head. USC game he fumbled in overtime, OU he threw an interception in the fourth quarter possibly cost in them a chance at winning, Oklahoma State game I believe that one was in overtime. West Virginia he threw a pick-six towards the end of the 4th quarter that got the game close but Texas still won, Texas Tech interception into the 4th quarter cost of the game, Maryland interception two of them in the last 6 minutes of the game.
He's only played in 9 or 10 games in his career. One of those games in which he threw a bad interception I think he was concussed. But other than that all bad decision making.

Thoughts after getting my shoelaces back. Some positive things that I saw.
The freshman running back Ingram has some great vision. He had 6 rushes for 36 yards. A 6 yards per carry average. Grad transfer Watson look pretty good also.
The offensive line looked better than last year, and gave Sam time to throw the ball. Only allowing one sack.
Sam was able to complete some long passes down the field. They were able to go vertical. Something we didn't see last year.
On the defensive side, they were getting gashed in the first half, but made adjustments. They did pretty good considering all the short fields that the offense and special teams gave up. Come on, there's nothing worse than a 15 yard punt out of your own end zone....
I think if Tom Herman takes over play-calling duties for Tim Beck the offense will start rolling.

Looks like Herman's very expensive remake of the locker room could have been spent in any other area and it would have helped considerably more. Another year of OU winning the conference and University of Texas playing in a second rate bowl game IF that.

Karma baby.......I wish them nothing but more losses. I loved them until they tried to poison my daughters mind with liberalism. I will never send them a red cent again.

I know quite a few kids that have gone, and are currently going including my son, none of them could give two chits about politics. They are busy partying, and or trying to survive college. My wifes a grad, and is a hardcore conservative. So, maybe your daughter sought out that side of politics when she was there.

I know several recent grads, that are good conservative kids. But, almost all colleges have a liberal agenda these days. Read the latest textbooks for history and government. Its sad.
