Check out the Nikon 3-12x42 with side focus. They are in your price range and work well for hunting.

I have a Sightron STAC 4-20X50. The glass is excellent, much better than most other scopes in this price range. The turrets track well, I performed a 30 MOA tall target test and they were right on, actually better than a couple of more expensive scopes that I have. I like the MOA reticle but its a little fine, it did not bother me except the first and last few minutes of hunting light. I like a fine reticle for most things but can be challenging in very low light.
