More loyalty points for me on the 8-15 draw. New it was a long shot with exotic and javelina, but didn't have high hopes of antlerless either since I got drawn last year.

Myself and brothers drew Mason Mountain for Anterless/Spike. Anyone know about this place? Still waiting to see how our kids did on the Youth drawings. Hunted it a couple of times. They have a bunkhouse you can reserve a space real cheap. Call and talk to the people there. They are good folks and will help any way they can. I have never had a bad experience at a draw hunt. Good luck and watch out for the exotics.

Congratulations. Mason Mountain staff is outstanding. Tell Mark, the manager, that the old hospital adminstrator sends his regards.

Just got the email, I drew for exotic at Garner. Should be a fun hunt. I drew Garner Jan 7-9. What dates are you there? I got drawn there three years ago and didnt have any luck. Hunting was really slow that year because everything was so green. Hoping for a better go at them this year.

My daughter drew youth gun either sex at both Cooper WMA and John Kirby State Forest. Her first year to hunt and first time in the draws. She's pumped.

Can someone answer this for me: If you are drawn for a hunt and something comes up that you know when drawn you won't be able to make the hunt, do you still lose those preference points even though you don't pay for the hunt?

I got drawn for Antlerless/Spike Gun Deer in Bastrop SP. January 9th through 11th.
Has anyone had experience at Bastrop SP?
I haven't paid the permit yet, but I'm pretty excited. Bastrop is not far. What saddens me though is my son will be back in school.

I hunted Bastrop State Park about 6 years ago. Take yourself a small tripod. Unless they shredded the roads and lanes (which were not done when I went)then you can take a pop-up blind. Throw corn everywhere you can see from you stand. Back then there were lots of deer. My buddy and myself each killed 3 deer (6 total.) We hunted area #7 under the power lines on top of the hill. It was a great hunt.

HH...In answer to your question about losing your LP's if you are drawn and cannot attend the Hunt...the answer is YES, you loose the LP's regardless of reason & there are no refunds on the Hunt Fee either, or same sad song on LP's if you have not paid the Hunt Fee.
BTDT one year when I got the knee walking lung rattling flu the week before the Hunt dates and called the Hunt Coordinator to tell him I was not going to be there. The HC at Inks Lake even offered to hold me a spot if I could come down for any of the sched'd days, what great guy trying to help too. Ron

I usually apply alone, this year I took on another person that asked to take part. He has yet to look at what we were selected for, and already thinks he has conflict, for a January hunt. Again, has not looked at the selection. DA I purchased my permit within an hour of notification, because I actually like hunting and being in woods. Not just the idea of it.
I really hope a deserving hunter gets the open slot on the 2nd draw.
I don't hate people, I just get real sick of them.

Checked the Status this morning, EXO & GDA still show 2nd pending, with 19 LP's EXO. All the GDE's & GDM's are still open to apply so nothing will happen there for a while. I've got 16 LP's in GDE and don't really expect to get drawn at any of the high traffic sites I put in for.
My Ft Boggy experience last year of being drawn, paying the Hunt Fee and then getting the letter withdrawing the Permit almost made me quit playing this %$#@ game. Cut in half my last years App's on this years App's, and gonna hone them down until I get drawn at a high interest site or get too old to see to shoot something. Ron

The EXO and GDA payment deadline in Aug. 25. Your status should change to "not selected" after that. 19 LP's in EXO is crazy. I got selected at Garner three years ago for EXO and got picked again this year with only 3 LP's. I read about a few other hunters this year who were selected then had their application withdrawn. Guessing there was a computer glitch because there were lots of hunters selected for a hunt that only had 4 spots. Good luck with the rest of your pending draws!

Not really I know someone with over 30 preference points for gun deer either sex. The odds are so bad in the current system you will see people go and entire lifetime without drawing some categories unless they change how the preference points are used.

I hate to tell you that hunt is directly after he youth buck hunt, usually not very good success rate as the deer have already been shot at. They really should spread those hunts out a little bit.
