GWT and woodies.

Across the board teal are hard to beat in my opinion, but unless you’re from east Texas and have consistently shot your limit of wood ducks 10 minutes into shooting light you probably won’t ever know the difference. Trust me I’m a coona$$...and we’ll eat anything!

I am not much of a fan putting color ducks (Mallards Gads Woodroes) in gumbo. I leave them for the grill. I like salt ducks for gumbo. To me a redhead makes the best gumbo. When I prepare a redhead for the gumbo I like to boil it in Zatarans crab boil to make a stock. I pull the meat from the bone. Many people have told me they would never eat a redhead. Many have finally tried that straight boiled duck meat and have to admit how good the meat is. By that I mean they are picking up boiled redhead ducks from the coast and admit they love it.

Mallard was the best I’ve had. Teal is second. I only killed one Canvas back and I sent him to the taxidermist, but I’d like to try one.

I eat everything else I kill.
