Has anyone had any experience with these rifles? I'm really looking hard at this one, mainly because of the mid-weight #5 contour barrel. I have a Thompson Center Venture right now and it's a great rifle, but I don't care for the light-weight barrel. It just heats up too quickly. At 7.9 pounds, the Ridge looks like one I could hike in the mountains with and still have a heavier barrel.

I'm really wanting to get one in 6.5CM and cut it down to 16.5". Would be a great walking around gun.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I was thinking along the same lines, only cutting it down to 22". I don't like muzzle brakes and I have no plans to get a suppressor, so the threaded barrel isn't something I would need. Also looking at 6.5 Creedmoor to replace my Thompson.

Well, I got to shoot it today and so far so good. These are rounds I had loaded for my other rifle so I can probably tweak the powder charge and tighten it up a little. I'll take it out this evening or tomorrow and shoot some steel out to 500 rounds see how it does. ![](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/usergals/2018/06/full-7848-153083-img_1234.jpg) ![](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/usergals/2018/06/full-7848-153084-img_1232.jpg)

Will do. The trigger was set right at 3 lbs out of the box but I adjusted it down to 2.5 lbs. I couldn't get it any lower but it is really good where it's at.
