Thanks, Sapper. No float valve for me. I'd definitely raise the downspout to keep pigs or exotics from tearing it down. Looks like you could run spout underneath unit and up out of the way.

Ist blind is behind the house. Has electricity too. No hogs mess with it. 2nd blind is out in the pasture. Plenty of hogs water there. So far, so good. I put concrete blocks in both and river minnows to eat mosquito larvae. Also keep a stick or chicken wire on one side to help birds and mice get out of the trough.
