If it's evening hunt with sun shining it depends how far in you walk to blind but how about just honk horn few times and have partial sack of cake handy! They hear that dinner bell and give them time and first few see you scattering it out and they will stick around there then walk to blind and happy hunting! I had a girlfriend that cleaned rig trailers for years and did some ranch road traveling, told me one day cows were in road standing around. Her being careful she eased up close to them...and HONKED! Then wondered why it got more crowded! I laughed as explaining that is dinner bell to most bovines. Just ease up to them and they move then drive on down road.

We do this too, but it always seems like a few will think you have something better to offer so they follow. I think Roll-Tide has the right idea. A wrist rocket and an unlimited amount of ammo (rocks) may just do the trick.

And for those who don't think a pellet gun will penetrate cowhide, I suggest you pick up a Benjamin air rifle. It will definitely punch a hole at range.

I can tell you, getting out of the blind, walking up to them, waving your arms and calling them MF'ers only works temporarily.

Pretty sure nobody is talking about shooting them with a Benjamin.

Range cubes at the gate is the only way I have found that work. Honk 3 times and a half a bag is all it takes. I park about 400 yards from my blind and walk in just in case they want to follow the truck.

pellet gun would be fine but its kinda loud. Might get a suppressor with one. Deer are used to cows but possibly not pellet gun noise.

Once you start to feed them, just the sight of your truck will cause them to stampede toward you even without honking.

That works for me. If they stay with the truck then they aren't at my blind.

I used a 45colt round, first one was thrown by hand, second one came out of the barrel to the cows skull. I was 18 feet up in a ladder stand and she was tearing the bottom legs off the stand. I did what I could to warn her, she didn’t listen.

She produced a ton of beef for us and the family that owned her. Owner wasn’t “too” upset. I had been amazed and trampled by another one of his cows earlier in the year.

Many of y’all sure must know some laid back LOs and cattle ranchers. I’ve been on many ranches over the years as a leaseholder and or guest...and if LO/Cattlemen even thought you were chootin their cattle with anything ....you were shown the gate immediately

Again, a few T-posts and a couple of cattle panels will keep them off your blind. Don't understand why you'd resort to shooting them with anything.

My friend (bow hunter) used “thumpers”. An arrow with a flat rubber tip for cattle.

Don’t shoot a pellet at one. It will penetrate and cause an infection. It might kill the animal.
Use an air soft or slingshot with small rocks.

Slingshot with marbles or ball bearings.

Pull in the gate, honk and shake a feed sack.

If your hunting a small place you may have to put up pens around your blind and feeder! If we are hunting where our cattle are we set the feeders 10-15 minutes apart and usually the cows swarm the one that is close to the best grazing and mill around while the deer are eating at the others and that is where we hunt. That being said anyone putting any sort of projectile towards my cattle wouldn’t be back! On a side note I loaded 12 big 1300#+ cows this afternoon and wound up on the top rail of the pens twice. I don’t think an air soft or B.B. gun will run them off if they do not want to go! One last thought if you put out cake to keep them at bay and leave your truck there the cattle will beat it to hell. Don’t ask me how I know!!!!
