Finally started seeing some good bucks on their feet during daylight starting last Wednesday (I activated my “mobile office” and went to my place when the weather cooled down last week). Was by myself. Woke up early and just went on to the blind a full hour and a half before daylight Friday morning. Two deer in foodplot as dawn broke. Took an excruciatingly long time for it to get light enough to tell what they were. This buck and his doe. As the light increased he did NOT want to be in the open. Kept going to her, walking around her, and walking to the wood line about 30 yards away trying to get her to leave. He would then stand stock still next to her for 5 minutes at a time. She never stopped eating or even looked at him. I was waffling a little but his age, attitude and pretty rack broke my resolve. When he came back into the plot to check her again I took the shot, and that was that.

The trails in the dew showed they both came from my right all the way across the pasture and walked right in front of my blind to the food plot. Pretty sure if I had not gotten there so early I would have spooked them and never have seen them.
