Left the house this morning about 7:30, headed for Montana. License, rifle, ammo, and lots of coolers. Stopped about an hour ago in Lamar, CO. Spent a few minutes on the way paying my respects to my 2nd great-grandparents, Sampson and Nancy Moore in Nolan, TX. I didn't have limb loppers to trim that mesquite. Next time. 'Saw a couple of good bulls in the back of a couple of pickups, headed south. Blood starting to pump. North again mañana. - I saw no cactus in Cactus, Texas. - There is no Welcome sign going into Oklahoma on 287 and the road immediately gets crappy. REALLY crappy. A seam/large bump every 25 yards or so 99% of the way through the state. Immediately clears up at CO line. (And there's a CO Welcome sign.) - In Oklahoma, The Beaver River is dry. And there are no beaver.

Thanks very much guys. The highway between Denver and Fort Collins is exactly like driving from San Antonio to Austin; not like I remember it when we brought the kids camping, many moons ago. Fighting wind all day, and now there's white flaky stuff floating in the air. Onward.

Wishing you the best of luck. Drive safely and shoot a big bull. That's really cool visiting your grandparents, thanks for sharing the history.

Sheridan tonight, 600 miles today. Man, Wyoming is a great state. It's always been my second favorite ever since I saw it at about 13 with the Boy Scouts on the way to Idaho.
Seeing Pronghorns always makes me happy.
