It was good. We usually hunt till we limit out but this year if you didn't shoot well you didn't limit out. I had a few days that I got 8 or 9 yet I shot 2 boxes. I think I enjoyed it a little more this year. It made me think and use more strategy. I really focused on my shooting as well. When they are thick you can pass the hard shots and take only easy ones. This year I took any shots I could get. They were flaring my mojos so I put them away for the first time. In the evening there was a cool pattern where from 5 to 7 you got low birds headed to our tank or roost our mesquite. I'd use my 20g sxs.
Then at 7:05ish you got this steady high flight of birds coming off a distant wheat field. I'd head back to the rig and pull out the full choked Benelli 12g and finish off the limit some times. Most of those birds were Eurasian doves so I got some great shooting in. Once you get the Leeds down your can make it rain doves. The dog was loving it as well.

Slowest ever. Probaly got 30 total in 5 hunts. Last year was really good taking about 100. Missed the big wave at the deer lease by a few days and they left when I got there. Luckily my hunt with Stompy made up for all the slow hunts elsewhere. I did go on one less hunt this year that would have been in Haskell so that contributed to low numbers. grin

Seems the drought years are banner years at the deer lease as it concentrates them to water. Not anymore... Plus neighbor didn't plant and shred his hybrids this year like last year.
