unless you're going to be hunting with the "el cheapo" stuff, you'll need to zero your rifle with what you will be hunting with.

95% of this rifles use will be on a range or shooting water jugs across the ranch. If I were to take it hunting I have no issue using el cheapo ammo, if the gun is accurate the varmints will be just as dead (would never consider using it for harvesting game, only varminting)

Well I made it out to the range today. Huge smile on my face right out of the gate. I shot a three round group as a starting point for getting the scope on. Was just using some independence 5.56nato 55 gr fmj I had laying around and got these. I had similar results with the Winchester white box 223 55gr, and the American eagle 50gr JHP 223. This was at 100yds off the bipod. The rifle did not like the American eagle 55gr 223, tula 223, or monarch 223. (Last two were to be expected but didn't want to rule out )

Pass the CMC flat single stage and hold the Fluff.

I shoot 'em in various 223,22 Grendel,6 Grendel and 17 Whizzum '15's and in 243 in '10.

Two-stage is an easy pass.

Hint..............

Sure. Saw 4-inches of barrel offa it and it'll handle a whole bunch better, balance a whole bunch better and likely shoot better Agg's...with but a rather modest hit on velocity.

The improved balance/handling,will more than offset the chronograph reading(s).

Hint..............

Now I get it, thanks for the advice. I'm going to run it as is for awhile, I don't really want to chop a brand new barrel. I wasn't having any balanced issues off the bipod , defiantly would help with free hand shooting

I chop 'em by the bushel...which is typically tough on Window Lickers.(grin)

So you chopped off the barrel of an older (wing safety) 1710HB. Did you notice any accuracy difference? With those rimfire barrels it can go either way.

That's a 1717D HB...'Hummer. Agg's improved and it cost under 20fps.

I've chopped lotsa 54's and always from the muzzle and Whiners always wanna say something about the "choke".

I've yet to see increasing barrel rigidity, hurt Precision and tend to chop, with reckless abandon.............

Chopped better than halfa foot off this one(22LR) and it cost less than 5fps,with ES/SD getting better to boot...with the same Lot of it's favorite ammo.

I LOVE the Hacksaw and Deburring Tool crown,as it'll reliably get Whiners to Whining.(grin)

Rifle is fairly magnificent............

Never chop a 26" 308 through the flutes and "crown" 'er on a SDM-4 with a ceramic stone.(grin)

It'll prolly never "shoot" again.

First cluster outta it...rocking OLD School Retrostalgia.

But I hate 308's...............

Old School Chop, dumped into an 1808 EDS handle.

Flung it away to have the front receiver grooved, had Bob build me some 75MOA extended 1913 rails, tossed some of Marty's Max50's aboard, rattle canned the metal and it'll easily hit the 700yd line all in,with a 10x MQ.

It's a SNEAKY Sleeper,that noone sees coming...............(grin)

On the 22lr, do you slug the barrel to cut it at a tight spot? And yeh, you won’t loose speed on a 22lr. A very long barrel will actually decrease your speed (like a Cz UL)

I've never taken the "slug" or "choke" bait...though lotsa folks that don't shoot, flap their gums about same. I simply chop for balance/handling and after 100's and 100's of barrel,I'm not a bad guesser.(grin)

Have a Vudoo being built with an 18" Bartlein(Specter contoured) and will be curious to see how she do. Will go Shilen 2oz trigger, have a McMillan Remmie Classic in Old Glory filled medium-ish on order and opted all the inclination Mike could toss me(30 MOA) and will stab 40 MOA 'Horn rings on top and see if it'll hang with The Teutonic Herd.

Should be a fair to middlin' platform...............
