I couldn't spend $15k on a shotgun. A target shotgun is probably the best place to put that kind of money. If you shoot in a league, you can use a high quality shotgun twice a week for the rest of your life. In that context, the cost isn't unreasonable.

Oh, you wanted a scope, did you? Not a problem. That brings the total to $17,500. Did you want a MOA or MIL reticle? I couldn't spend $15k on a shotgun. My HK45C is already the holy grail of pistols and my Sako 85 is a very nice rifle also so I have to improvise a little.
pistol: 1911A1 Colt that was used in combat in WW2
rifle: Again a ww2 combat era M1 Garand
Both of these will be hung under my grandfathers flag and medals who carried these weapons in a display of some sort.
shotgun: a nice Beretta OU for me

Ok, What are your Wholly Grail guns within your possible means. Like we all Know Mr. Oxner can walk into Whillouby and McCabe and buy a 20ga Purdy SXS with pocket change.
But what about the rest of us, If you had some decent money to blow on guns what would you buy. 3 kinds.
Me:
handgun: Colt Python Rifle: IDK??? Shotgun: Blaser F-3 Sporting Well since you said "Working mans list" I'll assume were talking meat and potato's. I think the whole list could be filled nicely just with firearms from Ruger.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Handgun---any revolver used by James Arness in Gunsmoke-one shot one kill
Rifle-----any lever actually used by John Wayne in a movie-never ran dry
Shotgun---Meteor 10 gauge SxS used by Val Kilmer in Tombstone-deadly, just deadly

Understand, I am a Ruger guy...and even though I have a couple of shotguns and a few handguns, I don't shoot either very much. So, I love my rifles.
