First time up here. Really remarkable place - have enjoyed everything.

Lake Moraine (no filter - water is really that color):

These crystal clear snow runoff streams are everywhere.

Glacier melt waterfall. Water was 4 degrees C, so mist and entire surrounding area was really chilly. 500-ft drop.

Saw 2 black bears but this was the best pic I could catch. They both moved away pretty quickly. This was at about 30 yards.

Board walk at top of gondola on Sulphur Mt. Really amazing views of town and surrounding mountains.

Driving to Whistler today. Happy 4th!

Really was an extraordinary part of the world. They tagged one of the dominant male grizzlies a few years back and what turned out to be his range was like 2600 square miles. He was all over the place kicking butt and making babies. Google "the life of the boss grizzly" if you want to read about him. Actually got hit by a train and survived and shut down half a ski resort once fighting another big male over a sow in heat. Estimated weight at hibernation is 700 lbs. big sucker.

Anyhow, saw some mulies, a mountain goat, black bears, and a bunch of smaller animals, but no grizzlies in person.

Still have 3 days in Whistler.
