Seems like every 200 feet quail wood get up on the pasture roads. Half grown and grown birds alike. Never flew far. One male showed his wheels in front of my pickup. They were whistling everywhere. There some dove too but I was more interested in the quail. 4 years ago it seemed like they were completely gone. Now they are everywhere.

I talked to a guy that works all over Shackelford Co. says he is seeing lots of babies and seems to be more than last year.

I agree Bobby. I had never hunted Throckmorton before last year. A friend took me to his deer lease in February. Once we got the lay of the land figured out and him understanding what I was looking for, it paid off in spades. We pointed 22 coveys in the last two hours of the hunt on Sunday. We were finished by noon. It was game on that morning. 30 coveys and 4 limits that morning for the 4 of us. I will never forget one man's Boykin finding 90% of the downed birds. He was a machine.

Just one more time before I meet my maker I want to have a day like that. Just one more time.
