so my wife wants to get into bow hunting. so yesterday we go up to the local bow shop and start looking. she shot a mission crede 2 and liked it. shes really small and short so we went that route because its a junior bow. he started rigging up a camo one. she was looking at other bows on the shelf and noticed they had a pink camo one. so she wanted that one instead. so after 600 dollars for a complete setup and arrows. I bring my bow in to get it re strung, as he carefully looks it over before putting it in the bow press he said, well you wont be needing a new string. you have a cracked limb bang. so now I'm out a bow until august because I lack the funds. but I did shoot a diamond and really like it. its a complete package for 499 minus stabilizer. pretty bummed but excited for a new bow. I am glad he found that though. Ive been shooting the heck out of that thing and never new it. that could have really been bad. it was cracked all the way through in the y where the cam goes about 2 inches long. then it had a pretty bad splinter on the same limp. I have no idea how it happened, I baught the bow used but it wasn't like that when I purchased it. I will never buy a used bow again though. I'm sure something happened with the previous owner and wasn't visable

You can always shoot a pink camo bow if you need to scratch the itch!

I shot it today actually. we just started to sight it in today. Going from a 29 inch draw to a 23 is kinda weird. lol. I just shot it 6 times to get the first pin in the ball park. I was going to let her do it her self, but she was getting frustrated because she has never shot before and was hitting all over the place. She shot about 30 times and has already started grouping arrows at ten yards. Not really something to brag about but she is getting the hang of it. I'm going to keep her at 10 yards until she gets it down pretty good. Oh, it is the Craze II, not Crede. Very quite and smooth bow if anyone was wondering. Mission is made by Mathews. Just a cheaper line, her bare bow was 350$ for the pink camo color. The black and camo style is priced at 320. This bow is very versatile in draw length and poundage. They also have the same bow in a bigger version for 399$. I haven't decided if I want to get that as my replacement bow, or the diamond. The diamond feels better in my hand and has a slicker look

Go with the bow that feels best. Much like when buying shoes pick a bow that feels best. Consistency for the wife will come with good practice with purpose. Get the basics down with a bow that correctly fitted to the person it usually doesn't take long to be grouping pretty good.

Grip. Light grip with weight against the pad of the thumb
Anchor point with string and hand facial contact in the same places
Sight alignment consistent
Trigger release, gentle squeeze not slapping the trigger

Get those down and grouping will improve and learn the feel and easy to know when you are doing something wrong.

Practice with purpose, when working on form if it doesn't feel right let down take a little breal and start routine over, much like you will see some good pro golfers do.

Agreed with kmon1. Glad your getting a bow that fits and shoots right for her. It's always more fun for me to shoot when I have someone else to shoot with. My son enjoys it and I'm working on getting a bow set up for him in August.

I know, I screwed myself and got my now broken bow from a pawn-shop. I shot it as is. It felt good, but I know i could shoot better if it was fit for me. My wife was wanting to go with a used bow. I told her no, the guy that set up her bow was real informative. Her form looks like she has been shooting for years. she just needs to work on aim. She is not very strong so she is only shooting at 25lbs to start off. I figured in 2-3 weeks I'll bump it up to about 30.

Its just aggravating not having a bow, especially with it being trashed the same day my wife gets hers

I understand. I just sold my old G5 Primal #70 30" draw for $175 all rigged out except for quiver. You can find that same bow for about $350 online but I still say shoot a few bows first and see how it feels to make sure you really like it. Maybe then look online even then its really risky dealing that way. I hope things improve for you and you can quickly get another bow.
