This old boar has been hitting this feeder for at least three years. I told myself I will only take him if I could arrow him. I'm guessing he's pushing 275. It took physics and a decent roadside ditch to get him loaded by myself.

After pursuing three years I named him Brutus. He almost always moves at night but the times he somewhat patterns to feeders he sometimes arrives at last light. I had him patterned once before about 2 years ago but I shot a sow at the feeder and he left for a few months. I also noticed whenever I filled the feeder he would disappear for a few weeks. Recently I sat on stand and saw him in daylight coming in from the Blanco river. He was in bow range and I was about to draw on him. He just knew something was up. I was so sure I had him and he just spun around and took off. I set up a ladder stand 75 yards from the feeder along his trail he was on and gave him another month or so to forget about it. I have pushed him away in the past by simply walking to the feeder to check the cam so I just put two huge rocks under the feeder and kept an eye on them from a distance periodically. A few weeks ago the rocks were pushed completely out from under the feeder so I knew he was back. I wore rubber boots and approached the ladder stand from an open field I knew he wouldn't come from. I sat maybe an hour it was around 7:30 and I wasn't even expecting him for another 30 minutes. I felt like I was looking at a ghost as he approached from the river. It was so cool to watch him move so cautiously and not worry cause everything was perfect...wind and totally undisturbed trail he was on. He passed at 25yards so slowly testing the air every few steps. I had my arrow tipped with the new muzzy trocar expandable. I was a little nervous since I never shot anything with them and this boar was a trophy to me.
At 25 yards I was so nervous I complete forgot to aim low with my 30 yard pin. I
I sent that arrow and it smacked him a little high. I was in silent shock as he just slowly turned around and walked away. There was so much of my arrow sticking out of him. Man my bow produces about 79KE and I bet I only got 6 or 7 inches of penetration.
I said a few prayers and went back to the truck for a shotgun and I light. I took up his trail and was so surprised to find decent blood. It was easy to follow for 60 yards and then it started getting harder and harder to where I had to trail his huge tracks. Then about 100 yards in he opened up again and lots and lots of blood was spraying. I found him 130 yards away and thank god up hill and close to the road.

Here is the trocar that did the job..barely. He did have some huge shields on his at least 2.5 inches thick. I'm not sure about these heads yet but at least they did the job.

Awesome story and hunt that's a true trophy for sure
And did it up close with a bow ,,congratulations
I'm thinking euro mount for sure
Had a customer save the leg bones and made a stack of bones to set the skull
On for a table mount that head that would be a good one for sure

Well done and good story!

I think largest hog I have self loaded in the truck was 230 lbs and it was a bugger to handle. My hat is off to you for getting it done!

Trophy mount?

Same here, until I started using a 2-wheel hand cart. I can tie a hog to it and then climb up onto the tailgate, then pull the cart up. It's not such a dead weight that way.
Big hog, good jog, great write-up!

I pulled him up on a ditch. Then backed my truck right into the ditch. My tailgate was a foot off the ground. Then I roped his back legs and stood over him and pulled straight up. Then kinda fell back.

The craziest thing was his when I skinned him. His shields were so solid I couldn't peel the cape down. It was so hard and wouldn't bend so it wouldn't peel back. I ended up having to slice down the top of his back and down the sides to get the huge straps out. It was soo worth it though. I guess there were no hot sows around cause he was so clean and spotless. Here in Wimberley the land I hunt has no livestock so no fleas or ticks and all the water sources are limestone so no mud hardly. He was as clean.
