Having done an autopsy or two on small animals I've taken with this pellet, I can attest to the fact that it makes a mean wound channel.
I shoot gamo match pellets and get great accuracy and dameage for rats. Also killed a coon with them and a skunk. I can't seem to get good consistency with most polymer tip pellets

I hear you, Sapper! I've got 4 different pellet guns and each one seems to "like" a different weight and configuration pellet! They're kinda like powder guns: each one has a preference and we just need to take the time to find out what to feed 'em.

I have a narrow 20' to 30' strip of lawn all of the way around my house, which is surrounded by acreage. I put the grass there as a fire break and it worked for me in 2011, when 32,000 acres and 1700 homes all around me burned.

For me, and other folks who have already posted: Treating lawns for grubs immediately makes the armadillos move on - every time. I have never needed to trap or kill one.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

I tried these in my .177 pellet rifle.

https://www.amazon.com/Sniper-Magnum-Air...um+.177+pellets

They are 15 grains so they are a lot quieter due to being subsonic and they penetrate a lot more. Not necessary for rats but they might be just the ticket for an armadillo or a coon.

We had a really interesting storm last night: high winds, thunder, lightning and we got 2 inches of rain in less than 2 hours! Decided to go out early and set up to see if the 'dillos and feral cats had gotten the memo about showing up. Well, they didn't get it, but the mosquitos sure did! In force! I'd been out about 15 minutes when I heard this scratching noise in the big pecan tree I was hiding behind. I had my pellet pistol in my lap, so I picked it up and got ready for whatever was navigating down the back side of the tree. Sure enough, it was a 'coon! He came around the tree trunk to check things out before coming all the way down. He saw me and froze; I turned on my head light and gave him a 22 caliber pellet out of the old Crossman. He fell with a thud and started thrashing around so I had to finish him off with the pellet rifle. I surrendered to the 'skeeters shortly thereafter. Took a pic of the 'coon and hustled inside and out of the reach of the bugs.

Don't shoot until you can see the whites of their eyes.

One shot is all it should take.

No way I'm staying up all night or getting up in the wee hours to dispatch armadillos.

Just put a couple of bottles of beer out there and go pick them up in the morning.;)

We had another brief but intense rain shower early yesterday morning, so I decided to set up a 'dillo ambush again last night. No armadillo's showed up to play, but another raccoon sure did! Popped him with my pellet rifle. He's the third one in less than a week in my back yard! I think I may set up a Duke's dogproof trap tonight and see if there's any more of the masked bandits out there, terrorizing the neighborhood. I know that out on our acreage outside of town we have seen the largest 'coon population we've ever seen in the 17 years we've had the property. A mild winter and a wet spring have really got the 'coons making lots of baby 'coons!!

Man, I have the armadillos. I don't know why they're all over the yard these days, but I shot three in the last two nights (about midnight). Used 40 gr Nosler BT's in my 223.

I'd probably leave em alone, but they dig in the wife's flower beds, so she has insisted on me getting rid of them.

603, those "in the know" tell me that the 'dillos are digging for grubs that they can smell in your landscaping. Get some grub killer and spread it and then water it in. Should be the long range solution to the problem. Short term, while you're waiting for the grub killer to kick in, get a "bulk package" of red pepper flakes and spread 'em around. I tried it and it sure changed their pattern of digging!

Using red pepper may be counterproductive. Once you have a bunch of cajuns sniffing around your yard, you'll wish the armadillos were back.

Cajuns are much worse and more destructive than armadillos.....once your property is overrun with Cajuns you'd wish you only had an armadillo problem.....

It's always the unintended consequences that nip you in the bud.... rofl
