Ruining the yard and the landscaping, so I guess I'm going to have to wage war on 'em! I was going to cut them some slack, but they've now been hitting the yard for 3 days/nights in a row. I hoped they would move on out, but it appears they need some encouragement.

Hire you a couple of young, strappin teeagers to catch em. Pay them $20 apiece. Best way I've found to catch those buggers.

You can almost set your clock by their routine. Just be ready about 10 minutes ahead of when they came last time.

Take some 2x6 or bigger and stand on edge make a huge funnel into that trap. They will start digging and walking along that board and go straight in. I trap them for my customers regularly this way and it's extremely effective. Then do a grub treatment on the lawn and add some pelletized sulphur and 90% of your problem wil be solved.

How fast are your reloads? Might be handy to have a pair of guns on hand. Or a bayonet. ?.
One shot is all it should take.

Thanks, cmc; I'll give that a try if I can't pop 'em with a pellet!

Will also have this pig/dillo sticker as a back up blade! Can't be too careful with a wounded armadillo on the loose!

By the way a blow gun is ineffective on them, I shot one last week with my blow gun and broad heads and it went in about half the length of the head and fell out. I'll go for the head next time.

I don't have a blow gun, but I do have a couple of cross bows. I'm afraid to use them in town because there's no telling where the bolt will wind up after a pass-through or in case of an outright miss.

I set my alarm for 3:45 this morning, got up, gathered my pellet gun arsenal, and trudged out to the back yard. Found a place that had wind on my nose and settled in to wait. Around 4:15 this dude showed up and I put a .17 caliber pellet in his head. He checked out with only a bit of thrashing. Sat there for another 45 minutes and it became obvious to me that the 'dillos and the feral cats had not gotten the word that they were to make an appearance. I'll keep patterning the activity and see if they have changed their schedule or have moved on to happier hunting grounds.

I believe there is a traitor in our midst. Every time I decide to go out on a mission, the enemy doesn't show up. Someone's gotta be tipping them off.

So, do you think we have a "leaker" in our midst, poisonivie? I have my suspicions as well. Gotta be somebody out there putting the word out to the varmint kingdom far enough in advance for them to change plans and schedules!!

I absolutely believe we have a leaker. He or she needs to be found and dealt with soon. It's probably a cat lover too.

They're after grubs they smell. Just kill the grubs. Over-N-Out or Talstar granules work well, or ask the maintenance guys at a golf course what they use to kill the grubs. No need to kill the armadillos, they serve a purpose.

To take out the coon this morning, I used a pellet that I just began using a few months ago for squirrel and rabbit hunting. If you shoot a pellet gun, you need to try these bad boys: They seem to work on the same principle as the Hornady VMAX bullets. The poly tip pushes back into the body of the pellet and causes it to expand rapidly and completely. Having done an autopsy or two on small animals I've taken with this pellet, I can attest to the fact that it makes a mean wound channel.

No need to kill the armadillos, they serve a purpose. This afternoon I spread some red pepper flakes around where they are really working up the lawn and landscaping. I'll see what effect it has on their damaging night visits. If that doesn't work, I'll try the Over-N-Out application.
