Pig_Popper and I finished off this weekend's hunt, getting into two sounders down in the lower pasture. With the vegetation ranging from knee to thigh high, it was tough to see the hogs and we certainly were not seeing the smallest hogs. We made several hits on the first sounder when I spied a second sounder and we abandoned our search for downed hogs and trekked across the field to get a shot at the second sounder. This worked out well in regard to shooting hogs, but not in recovering hogs. This was because once we walked away from the initial shooting area, we lost all points of reference and finding downed hogs was more about working a search grid across the field than it was about having some idea where the hogs were. After getting home and reviewing the video, I realized that we were only searching in part of the correct area. Even so, it was still a productive night.

Yes it would have been helpful if the hogs died standing up.

Thanks for letting me try out the XP50 and Grendel, very nice equipment and I will say the screen image of the XP50 is significantly more detailed than the resulting video output.

awesome video even when hunting cooler weather, at night this time of year, if hunten for ta & chill, the faster on ice the better, before meat spoils... Last hog i took, between mosketoes & back agrivating, that's all i got was the staps...
The hogs were still dead wether recovered or not... Seeing few others getting inta the NV-Thermal hunts at night...

Edit: just my if had the money, would go with the NV-Thermal vs chopper hunts... would been cool ta get video of my caveman hunts...
