Why not just say bull nettle on the sign I'm sure that would actually deter a few of them, it would me. I remember as a kid chasing coach whips through the grass and rocks and running into them, man it was bad but I needed to catch those snakes for some reason.

I have a friend that had a sign on his gate that said, "Warning Texas Poisonous Snake Research Area Trespassers May Be Bitten". They stole everything he had including the sign.
