I just got on a lease in Southern Menard County off 83. Does anyone have any reports (positive or negative) of any Axis in the area?

I find it very curious with 110+ views, and not a single comment of Axis either being in the area, or not. I'm not looking for any details, just want to have an expectation. I'm on the west side of 83, on the Menard / Kimball county lines. Is anyone close? Do you have Axis -or- not?

Yeah, I've hunted near Menard as well as near Junction, and in both areas I've had leases WITH axis and just a few miles away, nothing. So was just wondering if ANYONE had knowledge of axis in the area west of 83, on the Menard / Kimball line.

Buddy has a ranch that spans Menard/Kimball counties. East of 83 and south of 1773. 2000+ acres. I have had huntng invites for the past 8 years, no one has ever seen an Axis, and there has never been one on a game cam, and there's 8-10 cameras runnng year round. Heard reports of Axis that far north of 10, but we've never seen one.

I live in Junction Outfitter and have a Taxidermy shop there. A big majority of the axis in this area are closer to the river or live creeks. I am not sure of exactly where you are but we have an excellent place opposite side of 83 right there close with excellent free range black buck. A lot of that country west of 83 from Junction to FT Mcavett/Menard most of the axis are closer to live creeks in that area. not to say they don't travel through or they may be trick right there but you are very correct they can be on one place and a few miles away nothing. I own a place on the river and I have axis on my place most of the time. So if your looking for axis in the Hill country in general good water live water helps tremendously.
