I was reading an article earlier and a redtail catfish was caught in a canal in Florida. This got me thinking about Thailand and looking at pics I took while there.

Chao Phraya river north of Bangkok. These river people didn't have much but were always smiling and waving from their huts built on stilts as we passed by in the boat.

Look closely to the left in the trees is a German man fighting a giant Mekong catfish, the kid is patiently waiting to land it for him.

Hundreds of Buddhas lined the walls of this 1000+ year old temple where thousands of people came and worshipped them everyday.

Street food outside a market. The talapia are packed in salt to preserve them and then cooked whole over coals, the meat she is flipping is duck.

We traveled miles and miles of canals through palm tree farms and floating markets. Most of the vendors knew enough English to sell you their goods. This woman would say "banana, banana, good, very sweet for you"

Great pics. I shared them this evening at my Vietnam vets reunion with the guys. A lot of comments on how it looked like it was like Vietnam.

I stayed within a few hours of Bangkok in all directions, I didn't do much tourist stuff I stayed in the lakes and rivers fishing but my wife has been to Phuket and the Pei Pei islands and it seemed very very nice. Personally I wanted to see more Thai people than tourist so I went more off the tourist routes.

not the talapia. I hadn't yet learned how much street food I needed to try and rather than just a tasting of each I had ate too much by then. Everywhere I ate duck there it was delicious.
