Took a little visitor the new ranch with my wife today and it was quite entertaining. Saw some firsts:
1. Went over to change a battery at a feeder and there were two deer hanging out. One, a pregnant doe, just didn't really care we were there (or was too pregnant to do anything about it) and let us drive within 20 yards of her.

2. Drove over to another feeder to snip down some of the panels and my wife saw a deer just chillin along the edge of a dry tank. It also let us get quite close, drove past did the work, drove back and it was still in same spot. Got out and took a pic as it was walking off. Had to be a doe as it had no antlers or nubbins, but sure had the head shape (flat) and body shape of a young buck. Could have been a doe that already gave birth but saw no udder...

3. Caught some decent cats with cubed stink bait. Never had luck with the stink baits but we just cast and let sit, put the rod on the umbrella hole of the picnic table, and we caught probably 5-6 around this size. This one was caught after we were driving around and came back to tight line and sunk bobber but rod still in place. Allowed us to catch more fish that way and still have my wife the fun of reeling in some decent fighters.

4. Most interesting of the day, as we were fishing I looked up and caught a buck swimming across the lake coming toward us. Wife caught the last bit on video and when he got out I was impressed with his size and antlers, most of the bucks I have on camera are not close to this guy, so seeing him was a good sign the sheds we found looking at the place in March were legit...

Nice shots. They swim to the islands up here and it is over a mile one way. Very cool.

Sounds, and looks like y'all had an awesome time! Great pics & vid. And that lake looks like a fishy son of a gun! I can see lots of fun in your future!

Cool pics and video. I'm most impressed on how green it is and how much water you have. Still bone dry at my place out west. up
