Had a good buddy that called and said he was low on meat in the freezer, and good times. We decided to head to one of our places in the Hill Country to see what kind of fun we could stir up. The first afternoon we set out in the rain , but saw tons of Axis including these guys, some giant mouflons, gemsbok, and addax.




Just before dark we spotted a rutted up axis that looked like he'd fit the bill for us, but ran out of light after a close call on getting a shot off. We awoke the next morning to more rain. After the rain subsided a bit we jumped in the ranger and headed to the NW part of the ranch to locate the big boy from the night before. Low and behold we found him a mere 200 yards from where we last saw him the night before needed in the oaks/cedars. We were able to position ourselves with a tricky shot, but Max dropped the hammer and landed himself a heck of an axis. We managed to get a few pics with the rain settling back in. Congrats again to Max on an ourtsnding buck that stressed the scales at 270lbs!
