To get me to pull the trigger today. 104 heat index down here.

And I would clean it very slowly and methodically as to avoid repeating my thumb filet from last year.

It's best to avoid the thumb filet thing. I've seen it once or twice, and I prefer to pass, myself.

106...and I'm not talking heat index....thankfully there is a somewhat cool breeze or I'd have already started heading out.

Where are you hunting today? I keep seeing dead axis on IH10 near Fair Oaks and as far in as Camp Bullis. It seems weird that they are actually coming closer to town. We even had a dead one on Hausman Road near 1604 a while back.

West of Luckenbach. And calling it "hunting" is a bit of a stretch - I'm in the yard, in camo gym shorts, with the hose on trees and shrubs, with a cigar, a wee dram, binos, a .280 and a .17. I hit the cow elk call every now and then for grins. grin Believe it or not, this approach has worked more than once on axis. I have no shame - I may or may not have used the binos inside, in the a/c through a window on occasion.

However, only an Armadillo has bit the dust so far. But hey, it's low fence!

If you'd left that armadillo another year, he'd have been bigger.
