Built up my first 1911 from a stripped lower.
Still have to finish up some minor fitting, paint and sights. But over all, for my first, think its pretty awesome.

Honestly, no! I just did trial and error on mine. Fortunately, everything came together fairly nice and easy. I had a few rough spots in the frame I had to take off. And had to dremel alittle out of the front of the slide so bushing would fit.
I stopped by The 1911 Academy in Mckinney for a few pointers. They are very kind and helpful. They are off of HWY 380/University Dr, just west of Custer Rd.

It was used springer mil-spec barrel and bushing. My friend had them laying around. Barrel fit like a dream. Bushing... not so much, lol.

I'm in the $600s range right now. But still not finished. Probably cheaper to buy one out right but it's different to build you own.

As far as sights. I don't know. Probably something simple.

More fun to build. I get more enjoyment building a gun just for no other reason than I felt like it. Welcome to the addiction.
