Who here has made a bottle jack press?
I'm looking at picking up a bunch of I-beam and various other steel this week and could really use a bottle jack press for making some bends and pressing bearings.

I have really thought about it but never made the time to do it and don't care for one made with bottle jacks. If I ever get some time to build one out of I beam I will use a good hyd cylinder and control valve off a dump trailer. We ended up just buying one from Napa that uses a cylinder and remote mounted hand pump. Works great.

I have a small one that I got from Harbor Freight, I could not build it for the price they sold it for. It is about 20 years old.

Watch Rene BAtes Auctions. Bought a 30ton shop press for 25.00 a few years back. Had no jack but that's easy

I have been watching auctions and Craigslist for a while. Either nothing on there or they want new prices for rusty parts

I have been watching auctions and Craigslist for a while. Either nothing on there or they want new prices for rusty parts That is the problem I always had, find a decent press and they want retail for them. The price on shop presses are out of line IMHO. Go check out weldingweb there is a guy on there that built one that looks great. I have always wanted to build one instead of buying just never made the time to do it. Walter

I believe swag Offroad sells a kit to convert a harbor freight press. They've got some pretty cool kits on there for metalwork

Picked up a squat rack for free. It has 4 inch channel for legs with 1 1/8 inch holes drilled every 5 inches. Will be getting the I-beam this week for the top and have I-beam for the base already.
