I need suggestions for being able to view game photos faster. It takes forever to see them, is it the SD card or the camera or the computer? Cameras are cheap Stealth and Tracer. Computer is a 2 year old Dell. Thanks!

I have a card viewer that plugs in to my phone. On my computer I just insert the card in to the appropriate slot.

IF you are using USB cable - that is prolly the problem; Also make sure SD card has a fast rating, and plug it directly into computer

yes I do plug directly to the computer, usually takes 4 to 5 seconds between each picture. How do you know if the SD card has a fast rating?

What operating system and software are you using to view them? If you're using some sort of slideshow software it will go slow. Once you load your SD card into the computer, find the SD card on your PC's main files menu and open it from there. You should be able to move from picture to picture instantly.

Sounds like a slow card or a slow card slot. If you copy the file to the local harddrive and view it there, is it still as slow? Download the free picture viewer IrfanView. It is faster than the Windows viewer.

Wilhunt, what program on your computer is being used to view the photos by default? Perhaps your computer has another program that would advance the pictures faster than the default program. Try accessing the SD card with Window Explorer (File Manager, double click the SD drive then double click the folders names until you see the list of .jpg picture files. Right click the first picture file then on the popup screen click on "Open File With" and it should show you a list of programs on your computer that will open picture files. Click on each program to see if the pictures will advance any faster using the left and right arrow keys.

Could be the card having bad contacts. I had a few that would run slow every once in a while. not always though. Take an eraser and clean the copper contacts on the sd card. Erasers are a mild abrasive. That has fixed many of my 8 year old sd cards.
To see if it is the card also, you can transfer the files to another card and then plug that card into the computer and see if it is any faster.
if your card reader is in the computer then you could try to get a usb sd card reader. maybe your driver on your sd card reader needs to be updated.
Also, restart your computer. sometimes the computer has been stuck with an update and needs to be restarted.
Was your antivirus program running at the same time as reading the sd card? Some virus scanning programs take up a lot of RAM.
Is anything else running slowly on your computer?
I back all my files up to an external hard drive and then refresh my computer to new every 6 months. Computers slow down over time and have errors in the registry which slow down the computer. Refreshing the computer to like new fixes all those errors and makes my computer fast again.

Even if the sd card doesnt have a fast rating, it shouldnt take 4-5 seconds to view pictures. clean your sd card with an eraser and make sure all your Ram isnt being used by a program.
