I spend money on stuff I'm sure a lot of folks would consider stupid if they did it. And I'm sure vice versa. Guess what? I ain't them and they ain't me.
If it ain't the rent money or food money, who cares? Spend it, save it - it's nobody else's business.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I use a Photon XT 4.6 along with a Bushnell Equinox Monocular for spotting. I have a total of $650.00 invested in this setup. Does my setup compete with Gen 3 or thermal? Not it doesn't, but i still kill quite a few pigs with this setup, and it didn't break the bank. I'm considering making the jump to thermal, but would only be able to afford entry level thermal scopes. Not sure it's worth the jump to entry level thermal equipment.

I use the same setup and have the same opinion. That said, I still salivate as I look at the thermal videos, look at the cost, and finally remember I haven't had a problem taking what I want where I hunt with my current setup.
If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.
Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

Those entry level pulsars are good. The thor hd is pretty decent too. Best buy for you though is keep shooting that photon and get a base model scanner to spot with. The pulsar LD19s is on sale right now for $1600. It's a ton of thermal for the money and produces a very good image.
