Just moved out to Sulphur Springs from Virginia and I'm looking for a place to hunt. Willing to travel up to 2 hours not trying to spend more than $1000 on the lease or club. Let me know what y'all have available thanks

welcome to the forum and Texas.. For that price you are going to find very few leases....BUT with that being said, you will find Clubs in East Texas with large tracts of land, that will fit your budget...Most of them are Timber land leases and will have a BUNCH of people on them and the deer populations are not as dense as west of the metroplex... Check around your local feed stores and see if you can find a farmer with a small tract of land so he can put that 1000k in his pocket...I think someone just posted a hunt club on this thread...

Lot's of leases/clubs in southeast Texas, but twice the distance you are wanting to travel. Most run in the $800 range and go up in price the closer you get to the lakes (Rayburn and Toledo). If you are okay with that kind of drive, try southeasttexas.com. I HIGHLY recommend buying a thermocell or two if you decide to hunt this area. There is also the Big Thicket National Preserves that don't cost anything to hunt on, but have many rules and high traffic. I have had good luck in the past harvesting animals on the Lance Rosier Unit, I just got tired of hoofing everything in and out. Most leases have campsites, but few have water and electricity.

You also may want to consider making the drive to Oklahoma, Arkansas, or Louisiana. The lease fees tend to be much lower than Texas, but a out of state license would be needed. Oklahoma has a short (about 2 weeks) rifle season. Arkansas has much public land. I looked at a lease in Arkansas last year, but it did not work out to join.
