I've killed sows and boars from football size up to 300+ lbs, hundreds of them over the past 50 years ... to me, if I can smell the stank/taint while trying to load them, it's best to leave them lay. I have no idea what would be different between 2 similar sized hogs killed that were running together where one is fine and one stinks. I would suspect diet but why wouldn't they both be eating approximately the same thing if running together, likely out of the same litter?
